" The curious incident of the Dog in the Night-time" by Mark Haddon is an amazingly refreshing book to read. The story ends on a happy note with a slight touch of irony as the author realises that the person who killed his neighbour's dog is his own father. Nonetheless, i think that the ending is kind of predictable, just like any other books of this kind. His mother finally left the man whom she escaped with and returned to his father, although they are still not on speaking terms but at least they don't pick fights with each other as often. The author also gets back to Swindon in time to sit for his A level Maths examination thanks to a quarrel between his mother and Mr Shears(the man she ran off with). All ends well and he even gets a golden retriever from his father as an apology gift for lying to him about his mother's sudden disappearance when she ran off.
